The winners of the EKOkopalnia contest were chosen!

Szczecińskie Kopalnie Surowców Mineralnych for activities in the mining areas of Storkowo and Bielinek and ALAS UTEX for mining in symbiosis with the environment and society. These are the winners of this year competition EKOkopalnia. Special awards were given to: Lafarge for land recultivation of gravel pit Dębina Łętowska, CEMEX for the Bierawa project – a mine restored to nature and Kruszgeo for recultivation of post-mining areas and construction of islands and floating platforms for birds.

The competition was under the honorary patronage of the Ministry of the Environment. The jury of the competition included: Piotr Rymarowicz, Magdalena Fudala, Tadeusz Zając, Elżbieta Pietrzyk-Sokulska and Wiesław Kozioł. Members of the jury did not have an easy task. Of the many applications which were sent to the organizer of the competition – BMP, the editor of Surowce and Maszyny Budowlane, they had to choose the two best applications. The assessment was guided by 4 criteria:

– project innovation,
– social impact of the project,
– environmental impact of the project,
– attractive presentation of the project.

This year, the main prize in the EKOkopalnia competition was won by:

– Szczecińskie Kopalnie Surowców Mineralnych for activities in the areas of Storkowo and Bielinek.

Second place was awarded:

ALAS Utex for mining in symbiosis with the environment and society.

The level of applications was very high, which is why the members of the jury decided to admit special awards for companies:

– Lafarge for the recultivation of the Dębina Łętowska gravel pit area,
– CEMEX for the Bierawa project – a mine restored to nature
– Kruszgeo for the recultivation of post-mining areas and the construction of islands and floating platforms for birds
